PALIYAN, (KH),– Dibalik cerita besar tentang wahyu Keraton Mataram yang melibatkan tokoh Ki Ageng Giring III dan Ki Ageng Pemanahan, terdapat kisah Rara Lembayung yang tak kalah menarik. Dalam cerita tutur masyarakat, kisah ini turut mewarnai perjalanan Kerajaan Mataram di kemudian waktu.
Cerita tutur tersebut mengenai kisah anak Ki Ageng Giring III yang bernama Rara Lembayung Niken Purwasari. Ia memiliki nama besar Kanjeng Ratu Giring. Ketokohannya cukup akrab di telinga masyarakat Desa Sodo Kecamatan Paliyan Kabupaten Gunungkidul. Pada pentas-pentas seni pertunjukan kethoprak, kisah tokoh Rara Lembayung tersebut sering dimainkan dan menjadi adegan klimaks yang mengharu-biru.
Juru Kunci Makam Ki Ageng Giring III, Yusuf Fajarudin saat ditemui di komplek makam pada Senin (23/4/18) berkisah tentang perjalanan hidup Rara Lembayung Niken Purwasari. Disebutkan, atas nasehat kakak ipar sekaligus penasihat Ki Ageng Pemanahan yaitu Ki Juru Mertani, agar kuat dalam meneruskan tampuk kekuasaan Kasultanan Mataram, maka Ki Ageng Pemanahan harus bergabung atau menyatu dengan Ki Ageng Giring III.
“Memang benar yang meminum degan (air kelapa muda) “Gagak Emprit” lambang wahyu keraton ialah Ki Ageng Pemanahan, tetapi yang menemukan atau mendapatkannya Ki Ageng Giring III. Maka Ki Ageng Pemanahan menuruti nasehat Ki Juru Martani,” ujar lelaki berjuluk Mas Bekel Anom Surakso Fajarudin ini.
Maka, dijodohkanlah Suta Wijaya sang penerus pemimpin Mataram anak dari Ki Ageng Pemanahan yang di kemudian waktu dikenal sebagai Panembahan Senapati dengan Rara Lembayung anak Ki Ageng Giring III. Disebutkan, meski disebutkan diperistri oleh Panembahan Senapati, akan tetapi Kanjeng Ratu Giring tak tinggal di lingkungan keraton.
Yusuf Fajarudin menyebutkan, Rara Lembayung memang istri tertua, tetapi bukan merupakan istri permaisuri dari Panembahan Senapati yang menjadi Raja Mataram yang berkuasa dari 1575-1603. Singkat cerita, Rara Lembayung mengandung bayi dari Sutawijaya dan lahir anak laki-laki yang diberi nama Jaka Umbaran.
Dalam penuturan Yusuf Fajarudin, tak diketahui apa alasan Panembahan Senapati menghendaki dan meminta kepada Rara Lembayung agar kelak ketika si bayi lahir tidak boleh diberitahu mengenai siapa ayahnya. Sebagai seorang istri yang patuh Rara Lembayung menyanggupinya.
